Greetings of the day!
Hope all are working in a safe and healthy manner.
The subject mentioned topic is a basic information for all
site engineer / in-charge.
Thousands of workplace accident each year can be attributed
to one main issue, a lack of proper safety training. Safety training isn’t just
a good idea, company / organization regulations require that your personnel
must be trained in a proper way.
Often, it is argued that training is unnecessary because
the employee in question had many years of experience with the given work. Years
of experience will mean that they most likely know how to perform a task, but
do they know how to perform it safely? Do they know what is required of them by
safety law?
Filling Safety Forms
To help keep your employees safe, a site engineer/ in-charge
must start filling up Safety forms on weekly basis. Forms will help site
engineers to check the things again and again. These safety forms must be
signed by the team leaders and safety watch person in your team. Safety Form is
attached for your further reference.
Additional Benefits of Proper Safety Training
Beyond compliance, safety training is just a good idea.
Proper training help workers understand their rights, gives an overview of
specific hazards to which they may be exposed to and helps them to be able to
protect themselves against those hazards. Engineer / in-charge should
demonstrate and continue to demonstrate their understanding of the subject
matter.
For example, if your workers do not know how to use, equip
and adjust a harness properly, have no concept of fall clearance, are connecting
to insufficient anchor points, and/or are not performing satisfactory
inspections of the equipment, the training will be deemed inefficient.
This also applies to you, the engineer, the in-charge, the
instructor or even the manager. For those of you who have never used / equipped
a fall protection harness before, go get one and, with no instruction, put it
on. You would be surprised at how much practical knowledge you can acquire by
familiarizing yourself with the equipment your workers use on a regular basis.
Try to put yourself at your workers place, answer their
questions before they come up and provide practical advice and actional
information.
The Cost of Not Doing Safety Training
A
couple of hours of downtime for safety training will save you and your company
time and money. There is an incredible amount of money spent on medical bills,
insurance premium increases, training an injured employee’s replacement,
equipment damage and lawsuits.
But, more important than any of this, is the fact that
safety training could save the life of one of your employees.
NOTE:
Treating your team/subordinates as a family will
help each and every one to make a safe work environment.
Every site engineer has to understand their own duty to
ensure Safety. Workers/Labors will only understand if you all will give them
trainings on daily basis and demonstrate them what exactly safety is and what
is it’s benefits.
Hope all are agreed to the statements mentioned above.
You can prevent workers from being unsafe by giving
them regular trainings !!
So train your workers and manage your site Safely !!!
THINK SAFETY WORK SAFELY
